Project: Refurbishment of 13 Pritchatts Road. The work included: asbestos removal; installation of new suspended ceilings; new floor finishes; new doorsets; refurbishment of toilet accommodation; DDA external works; redecorations; associated full replacement of mechanical and electrical installations including fire and security alarms; IT installations including relocation of server room and connection to UoB fibre network.

Key Risks: Prior to and during commencement of the works numerous activities/hazards were identified which required mitigating including addressing: –
- Asbestos removals
- Construction within a live University site
- Ground excavations
- Disturbance of lead lining
- Working within laboratories where radioactive and biohazard materials used
- Structural alterations
- Upgrading and/or stripping out of existing life safe and intruder systems to laboratory areas containing insitu equipment.
Comments: SBA were appointed by University of Birmingham through the framework agreement.
